Dan Nightingale - Is Trying His Best Not to be a Dick

at Pleasance Jack Dome

5.30pm, 30th July to 24th August (not 11th)

International comedian, Lancastrian socialite and circuit legend Dan Nightingale returns to the Fringe for another festival frolic. He may actually be a bit of a dick, but my God he’s funny with it. As seen on Sky 1’s John Bishop's Only Joking.

"Boasting arguably the best stage introduction at this year’s Fringe, Dan Nightingale’s musings have warmth and easy going charm. Solid material. ‘Its been a comedy buffet’, he surmises, and we have all been well fed" – Metro

Interview with tv3 New Zealand

What can audiences can expect from your show?

I'd love to say it was anything more than just a really solid hour of my stand-up..... in fact I am going to. It's an emotional roller coaster of a show, there's a CGI car chase, four sex scenes and free cake for everyone. Seriously.

Do you have any pre or post show rituals you like to do?

I try my best not to get into any habits like that just in case I'm not able to them one time and then feel like I'm not prepared. If I can talk, I can gig. There's a guy back in the UK that does voice warm ups. Behave, it's not a musical.

What TV shows/movies are you into at the moment?

I've been watching 'Archer' on FX. It's a brillantly animated Spy sit com. It's very very funny. I've started watching it again from the start, straight after fininshing it. It's that good.

What for you has been your biggest achievement in your career thus far?

That's a strange one. There's a lot of stuff I'm pretty proud of, but I'm not a fan of comics waxing lyrical about how great they are. Just the fact that I get to come out to NZ is pretty amazing.

Is there anything else you hope to do in your career?

I'd love to gig in New York and Boston. The scene over there is a lot different from the UK, its not nearly as popular as it was twenty years ago. Would still be pretty cool. Who are your comedy idols? Louis CK is the guy, at the moment. Still love Chris Rock too.
