JOHN COOPER AND JOHN SCOTT ARE BOTH SELECTED FOR THIS YEARS JESTING ABOUT WITH THE BBC
BBC Jesting About 2012
John Cooper and Scott have been selected from a group of 600 hopefuls to be part of this years “Jesting About” initiative. John Cooper will be part of a group charged with creating a half hour sketch show for BBC Newcastle and BBC Tees Radio, and John Scott is part of the team that will be working on a show for BBC Three.
”
‘Last year’s Jesting About resulted in successes such as an animation commissioned for BBC Comedy Online, and a sitcom script optioned by Pett Productions, the indie run by Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer and Lisa Clark.
BBC Creative Head of Comedy, Simon London, said “we’ve been overwhelmed by the response we’ve had to our ideas and briefs” and Peter Salmon, Director of BBC North, added “we’ve discovered some new and authentic comedy voices, and can’t wait to see their ideas turned into reality”.
Agnes Wilkie, Creative Director at Northern Film & Media is confident that the combined investment and commitment “will produce a fantastic return of new, North East focused commissions across the three strands”.’

Here at Gag Reflex, we’ve had an incredible year. Here’s a self indulgent look back via the wonder of youtube.
The year got off to an excellent start with both Steve Shanyaski and The Boy with Tape on his Face appearing on ITV’1 Comedy Rocks.
Lili La Scala and The Boy helped raise money for the victims of the earthquakes in Christchurch NZ.
We signed the fantastic Australian comic Mickey D, Manchester mega misanthrope Michael J Dolan and the sublime Alex Boardman.
Edinburgh was of course heady, but a big success with Lili La Scala as mesmerising as ever on The BBC Review Show and The Boy dominating BBC3s coverage.
Then there was the BBC Comedy Prom, with The Boy appearing alongside Tim Minchin at a sold out Albert Hall.

Danny Pensive once again toured the country as special guest for One Man Star Wars. Taking in such cultural delights as Scarborough and Great Yarmouth.
And we finished the year off in fine style with Steve Shanyaski and The Boy both performing on the Royal Command at the Lowry.
We look forward to 2012 with three tours hitting the road – The Boy, Lili La Scala and Mick Miller with Jimmy Cricket.
